Eminem has decided to premiere his new music video “Headlights” which features Fun’s lead vocalist Nate Ruess on Mother’s Day.
The video that was directed by legendary filmmaker Spike Lee tackles the difficult relationship the rapper had with his mother Debbie Mathers.
The “Rap God” artist tries to hit an emotional chord with the clip which revisits his old neighborhood in Detroit and shares childhood pictures with the viewer.
Some will argue that they expected something more compelling from Lee but it is hard not to applaud the effort and the symbolism behind “Headlights.”
Eminem is a man who is still growing and trying to best his demons. Real fans will appreciate the sentiment.
